After 1 hour of almost continuous cycling.
The noisiest tandem bikers ever...Aggie is happy.. And it's not just the endorphin working its magic..Wei ShengGlum much?Arkroyal..This picture is indescribably funny. Hope everyone had as much fun as I did.. :)

CG Outing on 14 June @ ECP

Remember how we had a lot of ideas what to do on 1st June, since Open Sunday was cancelled?
We were traditional/conservative/not adventurous/too Woodlands-loving, and thus ended up at Causeway Point. Not that it wasn't fun. It was. :)
But! Now's the time for us to explore a little more of Singapore together.
(Idea spawned while Qiu Yun, Aggie and Sherrie were taking a long long MRT ride together.)

When? 14 June 2008. Saturday.
Meet? 1000 hours. Woodlands MRT
Where? East Coast Park!
What? Breakfast-Cycling-Lunch-Games-Dinner Combo
Who? Everyone if possible. Daniel will be in Japan though. :(

We shall meet at 10am and have breakfast, most likely at Woodlands. We shall then head to East Coast Park, rent a bike, and start cycling like mad. After that probably lunch somewhere. Games are next (will need contributions). Lastly dinner (was thinking Bedok Blk 85 or Chong Pang or Botak Jones or IKEA Tampines or wherever. Open to suggestions)

List of things we need/to note:
1. Games - Aggie bringing Taboo. Try looking around for Balderdash people. Games need to be windproof! Or cheap enough so that it doesn't matter if they get blown away. Just let me know what you can bring.
2. Floor mats - I'll probably be able to get 1 or 2. Supply will be based on demand. See how many are going.
3. Sunblock - Bring your own

Please block your calendars! The more the merrier.
Let me (Sherrie), or Qiu Yun know if you can or cannot come.

Ideas are very welcomed.

BREEKS and more..

Instead of Open Sunday... BREEKS! @ Causeway Point!

The start of a nice meal..
Zoey. Hogging the camera. :)Scary.. Daniel is looking right into the camera lens
Smile!
Look at poor Aggie, craning her neck, being blocked.
Fork and knife ready for chicken.
Ok what's Daniel doing? Nonetheless this is the last shot at BREEKS. Kept camera and started eating.
And after the boys are gone...
Zoey pigging out on an entire cake!Just the girls.. Happy, we are.
Qiu Yun taking a picture with AggieQiu Yun likes taking picturesShe really does. :)Aggie is happy she's no longer blocked, as other two show their remorse.. What will we do without the guys..?

ArkRoyal rocks.

This is me.
Me = Sherrie

New Recruit on the Block

Ok, so now the time has come to say goodbye to the third person from our CG to head to serve the nation as a soldier. Eric was first, Weisheng was second, now we must all say goodbye to Eugene.. We'll miss his lame jokes and his floppy hair, and his occasional blur look when he doesn't get the crap the rest of us are talking about.

So this is just a reminder to everyone to remember to keep him in prayer as he goes for his transition to botak-guy. And also to keep all the others in prayer too. And this is also to thank him for providing our CG blog with music.

Ok, some prayer requests:
Andrew, via Qiuyun: He's got a trip coming up, not too sure the details, maybe Qiuyun can update a bit more when she knows

Sherrie: Pray for her family's salvation, but most importantly for her younger sister.

Please feel free to add your own prayer requests ok.

Finally, for entertainment's sake, we have the 2nd army guy this year! Cheo Weisheng, a.k.a. Dominic, a.k.a. the manga lookalike, in his post in front of goal, trying to make sure no one scores against him during the April Open Sunday.

Weisheng the goalkeeper.
Unlike Jie-the-disturber-of-peace-and-justice,
Weisheng believes in diving before the ball even reaches him.

Yup, that's about it.

Latest Update

This is the last update before I go for Gen12ii Thailand Trip. I really thanks each and everyone here. Thank you for keeping this team in prayers. We finally see a breakthrough for the Hmong Lao in the refugee camp. Our permits are approved, we are able to go into the refugee camp on the 26 and 27 of March. There are quite alots of changes to the plan. But as for now, what I know is that we will be doing:
Kheion Village:
1) Cultural Training & Language Training
2)Tracting & Home visitation
3)2 kit & Drama for Good friday BBQ and sunday BBQ outreaching to the poor adult in the village
4)Field Trip - Laan Hin Teak( 60-80 children)
Reguee Camp:
Hmong Refugee Camp Outreach 1
Hmong Refugee Camp Outreach 2
Hmong Refugee Camp Outreach 3
Hmong Refugee Camp Outreach 4

http://www.thehmongshope.blogspot.com/ This website has constantly been updating. Do visit!

Lastly, I would really want to take this opportunity to thanks everyone here. I joined this Cg for only a few months. I don't really know you guys well. But the fact that all of you lifted up my family issues in prayers, I am really very thankful because God really answers those prayers.
I would like to also thanks
1) Daniel and Aggie: Honestly, i know it can be disappointing at times to see my irregular attendances.Yet both of you try to minimise the pressure that should have on me. I really feel appreciated when two of you could understand my situation.
2)Daniel: Thanks for keeping me update on the latest acivities. Though chances of me joining is very low, you still put in the effort to inform me. Thanks you so much.
3) Aggie, Sherrie: Thanks for constantly keeping my dad and me in prayer. I am really blessed.
4) Zoey & Eugene: Thanks for telling me through the tag box that you guys will be praying for me. Is very encouraging.
5) Joy, Swee boon, Weisheng, Daniel, jie Eric: Thanks for the invisible blessing(prayers). Though you all never say I will be praying for you but I know you guys do pray because God really answered.

I have always been wanting to say it in Cg setting. But the timing always clash. So I might as well blog it here. I really feel very blessed by all of you. Thanks you.

Trip to Phetchabun Refugee Camp is cancelled:
This team is being restricted to enter Phetchabun Refugee camp, due to the conflict refugee have with the military. Is got serious that no outsiders are allowed to enter into the camp until April. As a result, we will no longer serve in this Camp. Thank you for keeping the Hmong-Lao in Prayer.

Current Plan:
We will be going to Kheion where drug addicts are found. The major hinderance is language. We only have one Hmong-Thai lady to spread the gospel to the entire village. We need God direction to what He wants us to do. We are told of such plan yesterday, 12 more days left for preparation.

Let us continue to pray for God's direction. Pray for Sin Yi! She will be leading 17 people. Pray as Holy spirit leads us to. okie? Thanks you so much= )

The Latest Update:
Friday(29th Feburary):
It has been confirmed that 11 people were deported after signing a "voluntary" deportation paper. Emotions are running high in the camp as people are fearful of the ongoing deportation. Foreigners have all been denied access to the camp for the next couple of days so the deportation can go on smoothly.
In Laos ,22 Hmongs were slaughtered in the forest of Laos in attacks by the Laos Military and another 49 died of starvation.
5th March 2008:
"The team is now being restricted to enter the refugee camp, due to refugees conflict with military, Ben will discuss with Eugene on the contingency plans."

The Prayer Movement:
As we move towards our departure of 18th March, we would like you to be praying with us for the Hmong people that the team is going to minister to.

Certain areas that we could pray for:
  1. The safety of the Hmongs in the refugee camp and the ones that has been deported back to Laos.
  2. Pray that their emotional tension will be removed amongst the ones in the camp n at Laos.
  3. The Hmongs' salvation. that in the midst of such condition they could see the hope to live.
  4. God's will to be done among all these.
  5. Let's pray for the directions in regards to 5th march
  6. The team meets on the 6th of March for a time of prayer and fast to earnestly pray and intercede for this dark times.

In line with this, the team has initiated a synchronised time of prayer nightly between 10-10.30pm to be set aside for prayer for the people daily till we depart for Thailand.

Visit our Mission Team's Blog @ www.thehmongshope.blogspot.com to continue reading the updates that are sent out.The team appreciates your support in prayer!

Philipians 4:6Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to GOD.Pray on!

Hi Everyone =),

Qiu Yun here. I think by now you guys most likely know that I will be going on a mission trip to Thailand in this coming March. I need prayer supporters to pray for this group of Lao-Hmong in Phetchabun refugee camp. For the details, Aggie would be willing to explain to you guys during the next CG. But as for now, you guys could check up this two websites for more details.
This is thailand mission trip blog: http://www.thehmongshope.blogspot.com/;
This is Radion international Org Website: http://newlifeoutreach.blogspot.com/

Is very critical because there is a possibilities that we might not even get to see this group of people when we reach there. Currently according to my team, 11 people were deported after signing a "voluntary" deportation paper. We have also received news that emotions are running high in the camp as people are fearful of the ongoing deportation. We've also heard that foreigners have all been denied access to the camp for the next couple of days so the deportation can go on smoothly.

I know all of you might not possibly understand the whole situation. I will try my best to get the message across and I pray that all of you will partnership with us to pray for the Lao-Hmong out there.

Here is my newsletter.

When man work, Man work. When Man prayed, God work.
Let us all P.U.S.H(Pray Until Something Happen) okie? =) Thanks you

Some updates and other stuff

Ok everybody!

Hope everyone's doing alright so far.

Anyway, so here are some updates for everybody!

First, is announcement for March open Sunday!
It's this coming Sunday (2nd of March), and you are required to bring your t-shirt and shorts and RUNNING SHOES, as specified by the great organizer of the open Sunday, Justin Mui. As per normal, the meeting time will be 1.30 pm at Bethel, please get there on time, and bring all your stuff.

Second, its CG OUTING! And it'll be for a good event, since Zoey has invited us to go and see her perform at the University Cultural Center on the 15th of March. The thing is starting at about 5.30 pm, if I remember correctly. Please tell me/Zoey if you can go ASAP, by Tuesday (26th Feb). Yeah. That's tmr. haha.

Finally, everyone, please keep Qiuyun in prayer as she preps for her trip, leaving on the 18th of March. And also for Weisheng, who will become the lowest lifeform (army recruit) on the planet on the 13th of March. And also for Eric, hope he remembers that he should not use solid fuel to heat up water in front of his bunk.

OK. Please continue to post stuff regularly here ok? Oh and if people are interested for Saturday morning sports, please check with Weisheng (who is still in SFC), or go to the link which I shall post up soon.

Yup. That's about it.

Hi Everyone =),

Qiu Yun here. I have some prayer requsts if possible do keep me in prayer alright? On the 18 of Mar I will be going to thailand for humanitarian work with campus crusade for christ. (I did not tell my mum I am going with a group of christians.) I know there will be more spiritual warfare coming up. Just a few hours ago, my mummy found out that i have been reading bible while she is asleep. She has not seen my bible yet because I have been hiding everywhere in the house. I know she is looking for it. Like playing hide and seek=). I really do not want to submit my bible. Pray that through these trials, I will rejoice and stand even stronger in Christ alone. And also pray that I will keep captive of those lies and lift them up to God. Thank you.

First among equals

Today, a whole group of us went down to Eric's place to say a final goodbye to him before he went to enlist. (FYI, he'll be going in at 0800hrs on the 11th of January).

So anyway, it didn't go off to too well a start. See, we were supposed to meet at 8pm at Bukit Batok station, and then supposed to reach Eric's place at 8.30. However, some of us were late, one of us was extremely late, and people whom we expected to be late actually arrived much earlier than us. This was due partially to (i) some people's lateness, (ii) the fiasco at the photo printing booth, and (iii) the un-appearance of a serviceable 852 for at least 20 minutes.

So anyway, the plan to 'supplies!' Eric was sprung roughly around 9.25 pm. And it was promptly screwed up by yours truly, who let slip the fact that he wasn't the only person around. But on to the events.

So what happened was that Eric came down to bring us up to his place. And we all cleverly decided to squeeze into one lift, since we are such sticklers for team spirit and cg bonding and all that. After we all managed to fit ourselves into one lift, Zoey noticed something peculiar about the lift. That was also about the same time that the lift encountered a problem.

The lift reminding us that some of us had eaten too much sushi

Essentially, we thought we damaged the lift. So we quickly ran into another lift and went up to his place. And we kinda chilled out there for a while. And ate some donuts that Sherrie had bought for the occasion. Though not everyone was quite so hungry at that point of time.

Hungry donut eaters surveying their prey

Finally, after the eating had more or less been settled, Swee Boon turned up. According to him, he had gone the wrong way about, and so had ended up walking one big round just to get to Eric's block. His arrival allowed us to take as complete a CG picture as we could take. It wasn't like complete lah, because Jie wasn't with us, but well.

Of course, there were many other pictures, but I feel sleepy, and I shall not post very many because I have to go to school tmr. And I'm sleepy.

The Godfather, part 3.142

Oh and on a final note, when we left, we saw that the lift we had spoilt was not spoilt! (This is utterly random, and most strange, but the spell check tells me spoilt is a wrong spelling. I always thought spoilt was the past tense of spoil). It was working again; needless to say, we didn't trust it, and took the other lifts down.

The lift happy that it's earlier bluff had worked

Ok. Bye Eric!

YAY-NESS!

Oh gosh, so love this blog! Finally the CG blog is up, and am glad to be able to communicate with you ladies and gentlemen here. Once again, thank you all for your hardwork throughout the year 2007; whether is it regarding CG or not, or other ministries, wanna take this chance to appreciate all your hardwork in giving God the glory. :)

Of course not to forget our two cute and suave CG leaders(Agg and Dan) who have been putting in alot of efforts for our CG. For tolerating our nonsenses most of the time(tho they do come up with nonsensical stuffs sometimes, oops :P) and also our weird and the different kinds of personalities/characteristics that we possess. For their time that was sacrificed for us, the money that was spent on us, the love and joy that was shared with us. Want to acknowledge them for thier leadership, thier availability and thier humility in disciplining us to become what God intends us to be. Don't you all agree?(smacks if you don't, haha) :)

Last but not least, want to encourage you all to stand firm in Christ alone. Tho there will be times our faith be tested and weave, but con't to seek God's will in whatever you do and be encouraged to know that you're not running this race alone. Perserve on together as a CG and as bro/sis in affirmation and assurance. SEE YOU ALL tmr for open sunday, don't be late yah!:)
